mastering - a fresh perspective and pair of ears combined with excellent gear to make the songs sound their absolute best.

the why and the what - over days and months of writing, recording, and mixing ears can be tuned into to certain things that have been brought out within that process, and it becomes difficult to hear the songs, or album as a whole piece. it is the mastering engineer who takes those multiple listening environments, ideas, and sounds, and ensures they sound great for all listeners. the sound will be optimized for any listening environment be it car stereo, ipod, or high end stereo systems. with a mixture of eq, compression and dynamics processing the final result is a warmer, louder, richer, fuller and punchier songs.

history - i’ve been working in mastering since i first started producing music. having begun working in recording studios directly after high school, i began my formal training studying electronic music at univesity of california, santa cruz. since 2006 i’ve been studying the art of mastering under the great mastering engineers paul stubblebine, michael romanowski, and john greenham and am now working with them at historic 1340 mission st sf ca. The studio originally called Coast Recorders was built by Mercury Records in 1969, and redesigned by bill putnam in 1971.

i’m interested in making your music sound as enjoyable and musical as possible, not as loud as possible. from being an artist, engineer, producer, and live sound engineer, to working within a record label I understand where you’re coming from and how important your project is to you. i look at every album as a unique opportunity and an honor to be trusted with your music.
