About Robert Cross
Robert Cross is an award-winning composer, producer, recording engineer, arranger, songwriter, and educator with more than 25 years of experience creating music for artists, advertising, film, television, and multimedia. Combining technical expertise with a collaborative creative approach, he has built a career helping musicians and organizations transform ideas into polished, professional productions.
As the owner of Rob Cross Music, Robert has produced, engineered, arranged, mixed, mastered, and composed music across a wide range of genres, including rock, indie, reggae, dub, electronic, cinematic, orchestral, jazz, and experimental music. His credits include original music for advertising campaigns, commercial releases, artist development, and multimedia productions.
Throughout his career, Robert has received numerous songwriting and production honors, including recognition from the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the OurStage Fan Choice Awards, the Got A Demo Songwriting Competition, and the Loopwise Composition Awards. Most recently, he dubbed to Each One Dub One, recognized as Dub Album of the Year by Reggae.fr.
Robert's production philosophy emphasizes collaboration, communication, and creating an environment where artists can perform at their best. He specializes in coordinating recording sessions, managing production schedules, solving technical challenges, and guiding projects from the earliest creative concept through final mastering and release.
His professional experience includes mastering engineering with Paul Stubblebine Mastering and John Greenham Mastering, where he prepared recordings for commercial music and film releases. During this time, he helped prepare commercial music releases, film soundtracks, and high-fidelity recordings for distribution, developing a meticulous attention to sonic detail and audio quality. This experience refined his critical listening skills and deepened his understanding of the final stage of the recording process, knowledge that continues to influence every project he produces, mixes, and masters today. As the sole employee of The Tape Project, he transferred 1" tape masters onto 1/4" reels, duplicating high-fidelity analog master recordings for audiophile releases. Earlier in his career, Robert directed, recorded, edited, processed, and encoded professional voice recordings for AuSim Engineering Solutions, and coordinated artists and performers for the Santa Cruz Digital Arts Festival.
Beyond engineering and production, Robert has written music for advertising campaigns for internationally recognized brands including Motorola and Harley-Davidson. His deep understanding of composition, sound design, arrangement, and audio production enables him to create music that supports storytelling while leaving a lasting emotional impact.
Robert earned his Bachelor of Arts with High Honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he studied music with an emphasis in music production and completed a minor in Electronic Music.
Today, Robert continues to produce, compose, engineer, and collaborate with artists worldwide through Rob Cross Music while developing original music for film, television, advertising, and sync licensing. Whether producing an album, composing a cinematic score, or engineering a commercial release, his mission remains the same: to create music that is timeless, emotionally resonant, and sonically exceptional.
