Throughout My Professional Background:

Boom Boom Recording — Oakland, California (1999)
Boom Boom Recording was an independent recording studio in Oakland, California, active during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Operating out of the home of Zakiya Hooker, daughter of John Lee Hooker and her husband, Ollan Christopher. Serving the Bay Area's thriving independent hip hop, r&b, and alternative music scene, the studio became known for providing an affordable environment for local artists to record full-length albums and demos. Boom Boom Recording was part of Oakland's vibrant DIY recording community during a period when the East Bay was producing nationally recognized independent music acts. They have since moved to Douglasville, GA.

AuSim Recording Studio — Scotts Valley, California (2002–2006)
AuSim Recording Studio was a professional recording facility located in Scotts Valley, California, in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Founded by William Chapin as the studio branch of AuSim audio measurement, solutions that enhance sound perception. The studio was operated by singer, engineer and producer Lennox Smith, AuSim specialized in high-quality analog and digital recording for rock, acoustic, and singer-songwriter projects. During the early 2000s, the studio earned a reputation for combining modern Pro Tools workflows with vintage recording equipment, attracting artists from throughout Northern California seeking a relaxed, creative recording environment.

Henfling's Tavern (Live Sound Engineer) — Felton, California (2004–2005)
Henfling's Tavern has been a cornerstone of the Santa Cruz Mountains music community since the 1930s. Located in downtown Felton, the historic venue has hosted generations of local, regional, and touring musicians spanning rock, blues, bluegrass, Americana, and folk. Rather than a recording studio, Henfling's is one of Northern California's longest-running live music venues, known for its intimate atmosphere and commitment to showcasing original music. Working live sound at Henfling's provided invaluable experience mixing performances in a fast-paced, real-world concert environment.

Broken Radio Studios — San Francisco, California (2007–2010)
Broken Radio Studios was an independent recording studio located in San Francisco's South of Market district. Located in the building that housed the original Coast Recorders. During the late 2000s, the studio was owned and operated by engineer and producer Matt Boudreau, who emphasized high-end recording equipment while remaining accessible to independent artists. Broken Radio became well known within the Bay Area indie music community for producing professional recordings in an artist-friendly environment and was recognized for combining vintage analog gear with modern digital production techniques. (Mixonline) Matt now hosts the great podcast,  Working Class Audio.

Coast Recorders — San Francisco, California (2005–2007)
Coast Recorders was one of San Francisco's most respected recording studios and a landmark in Bay Area music history. Founded by Bill Putnam in 1969, the studio quickly established itself as one of the premier recording facilities on the West Coast. Over the decades, Coast hosted an extraordinary range of artists including Santana, Journey, Metallica, Green Day, and many others. Known for exceptional acoustics and world-class equipment, Coast Recorders played a significant role in shaping the sound of Northern California music for more than four decades.

Hyde Street Studios — San Francisco, California (2009–2011)
Hyde Street Studios occupies one of the most historic recording facilities in American music. Originally opened in 1969 as Wally Heider Recording, the studio became home to landmark recordings by the Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. In 1980, the facility was purchased by Michael Ward, who renamed it Hyde Street Studios and preserved its vintage recording equipment and classic rooms while welcoming new generations of artists including Green Day, Tupac Shakur, Cake, Chris Isaak, and Train. Hyde Street remains one of the most historically significant recording studios in the United States. (Hyde Street Studios)

Pinnacle College Recording Facility — Rancho Cordova, California (2012–2014)
The Pinnacle College Recording Facility in Rancho Cordova served as the primary hands-on training studio for students enrolled in Pinnacle College's Audio Recording and Music Production programs. Designed to simulate a professional commercial recording environment, the facility combined industry-standard recording consoles, Pro Tools systems, microphones, and outboard equipment to prepare students for careers in recording, live sound, and audio production. During its operation, the studio provided practical engineering experience while supporting local artists and student recording projects.

Moondog Studios — Alameda, California (2014)
Moondog Studios was an independent recording studio located in Alameda, California, serving musicians throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Lead engineer was my longtime friend Stephen Beacham. The studio focused on professional recording, mixing, and music production in an intimate creative environment. Although relatively small compared with larger commercial studios, Moondog earned a reputation among local musicians for personalized production and engineering services that emphasized musicianship and high-quality recordings. Steve now works at CNET.

Reasoning Studio — Fair Oaks, California (2015–Present)
Reasoning Studio is the personal recording and production studio of Robert Cross, located in Fair Oaks, California. Established in 2014, the studio serves as the creative headquarters for recording, producing, mixing, mastering, songwriting, and audio restoration projects across multiple genres. In addition to producing original music for his own projects including Weather Pending, Deepfried, King Robby, and Rob Cross, Reasoning Studio specializes in archival restoration, modern digital production, podcast editing, and music prepared for film, television, and streaming platforms. Built around decades of professional studio experience, Reasoning Studio continues to support both independent artists and personal creative projects.
